Securities Arbitration Participates in Dispute Resolution Triathlon

The students enrolled in the Securities Arbitration Practicum, under the direction of Professor Alice Stewart, participated in the first annual Securities Dispute Resolution Triathlon hosted by St. John's University School of Law and The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) on Saturday, October 17 and Sunday, October 18 in New York. All of the students worked very hard in preparing for the competition, and the final three attendees were Stephanie Garbe 3D, Alex Marino 3D, and David Koba 4E along with the program's supervising attorneys Scott Lane, Deputy Chief Counsel Pennsylvania Securities Commission, and Sandy Garfinkel of Eckert Seamans, Cherin & Mellott.

The Triathlon is the only competition to provide aspiring lawyers with an opportunity to build their advocacy skills in three critical forms of alternative dispute resolution: negotiation, mediation, and arbitration.
