Graduate Programs Requirements
PUBLIC HISTORY PROGRAM
A. General Description
Candidates for the M.A. degree in Archival, Museum and Editing Studies are required to complete thirty-six credits (12 courses). Students are required to take at least two of the three professional courses - Archival Studies, Museum Studies, and Historical Editing. They are also generally required to take two internships, for which they will receive course credit, in the professional areas in which they have completed course work. Finally, they must take the Public History Seminar (HIST 627) in their concluding year.
B. Advisement
All Public History graduate students are advised by Dr. Perry Blatz, the director of the program. He will discuss the student's program of study and help plan the student's curriculum. However, it is up to the student to insure that all requirements for the degree are fulfilled.

HISTORICAL STUDIES PROGRAM
A. General Description
Candidates for the M.A. in the Historical Studies Program are required to complete thirty (30) credits or ten courses. This may include six credits of thesis. (See below for a full description of the thesis option.) Students choose a major field in American, European, or Global History.
B. Advisement
The program's students are advised by the Department Chair, Dr. Holly A. Mayer. Dr. Mayer will discuss the student's course of study and help plan the student's curriculum. However, it is up to the student to insure that all requirements for the degree are fulfilled. No later than the end of the second month of their first semester of graduate work, students are expected to choose a major field and to notify Dr. Mayer of that choice.
