McAnulty College and Graduate School

First-semester Registration Plan

Your academic advisor will use the information you provide below to prepare a draft schedule for your first semester at Duquesne University.

Advisors will begin creating schedules for new students in early May. Your advisor will then send you your proposed schedule by U.S. mail. Be on the lookout for it! If you like your schedule you won't need to do anything else. If you have questions or concerns about your schedule feel free to contact your advisor by email or by phone at 412.396.6389.

Intended Major(s)

Do not hesitate to select more than one possible major if you have multiple interests. If you are uncertain, just indicate possible interests. College policy is that students may not officially declare a major until after they complete their first semester.

Honors College

Learning Community

All first-year students in the McAnulty College of Liberal Arts become members of either a learning community or the Honors College. If you will not be in the Honors College you can choose which learning community you want to join (space permitting).

If you have not already selected your learning community, choose and enroll now.

NOTE THAT YOUR ADVISOR CANNOT CREATE A SCHEDULE FOR YOU UNTIL YOU SELECT A LEARNING COMMUNITY. PLEASE CHOOSE YOUR LEARNING COMMUNITY BEFORE COMPLETING THE REST OF THIS FORM (unless you are in the Honors College).

Favorite Subjects for  Your First Semester

Your learning community automatically determines three of the classes you will take in the fall semester. If you are in the Honors College you will have one required course.

To help your academic advisor propose the rest of your fall schedule, please rank your preferences of the following subjects from 1 (most preferred) to 13 (least preferred).

Mandatory Course

All incoming students must register for a one-credit "Research and Information Skills" course.

Optional Courses

You have the choice to enroll in ONE of the following one-credit courses to assist you in your transition to Duquesne University. If you think one of these courses would be helpful to you, check the ONE (only one) you would prefer:

University 101, is an eight-week course that meets twice a week and offers new college students ways to become more actively involved in the college experience and to develop as confident and competent students. Topics include goal-setting, time management, diversity, stress and coping with the demands of college.
