Duquesne University Procedures For Handling Complaints
The Duquesne University Faculty, Administration, and Staff Investigation of Complaints Procedures for the Review of Allegations of Sexual Misconduct and Other Complaints of Discrimination is designed to ensure that the Affirmative Action (AA) Office treats complaints fairly thereby preventing their escalation to charges with outside agencies.
The University promotes the informal processes utilized to resolve complaints. The internal investigation process may vary on a case by case basis but will include listening to the complainant, offering information about possible options for the complainant to pursue, determining the merits of the accusation, and securing the cessation of any inappropriate conduct. Either initially or if the informal steps described do not have the desired outcome, a complainant may opt to lodge a formal written complaint.
