Franz Liszt, Superstar!
- 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM
- PNC Recital Hall
Pianist Barbara Nissman takes us on a unique journey towards understanding the most charismatic personality of the romantic age. Franz Liszt was a man frequently misunderstood, both musically and personally.
His Sonata in B minor is one of the masterworks of the piano literature and Nissman offers her personal insights into the performance and appreciation of this complex work.
Hailed as " one of the last pianists in the grand Romantic tradition of Liszt, Rachmaninoff and Rubinstein," Barbara Nissman continues the grand bravura tradition of romantic pianism, touching souls in the process. Nissman connects not only with the music and its composer, but connects the composer to the listener. She makes music relevant.
Recognized as an authority on the music of Franz Liszt, Nissman is also well known for her writings and performances of Prokofiev, Ginastera, Bartok and Rachmaninoff.
Tickets $15 | general admission, seating is limited.
