Legacy:

Something received from an ancestor or predecessor; that is handed down from a previous generation.

A legacy doesn’t just happen.
It is the result of hard work and steadfast commitment.

A legacy isn’t passive.
It’s actively and intentionally transferred
from one generation to the next.

We are the heirs of Duquesne’s legacy—
more than 130 years of serving God by serving students. We have benefitted from the toil and sacrifice of generations before us.

But it is not sufficient to simply maintain our legacy—we must advance it. As an extended community of learners, teachers, and researchers; as staff and administrators; as proud, successful alumni around the world; and as friends and supporters, we all pursue an ambitious vision—elevating Duquesne to the elite ranks of Catholic higher education.

Advancing Our Legacy carries on our proud tradition, focusing on three areas of need: Scholarships, Academic Quality, and Student Experience.

Many of Duquesne’s schools, departments and programs have identified funding priorities related to these overall objectives. Learn more about areas of interest.

Scholarships and Financial Aid:
Our Spiritan founders insisted that the transformative benefits of a Duquesne education be available to all worthy students, regardless of ability to pay. Funding for need-based financial aid is the key to keeping this promise alive—now and forever. Learn more...

Academic Quality:
Teaching and learning have always been at the heart of our identity. We seek to make outstanding academic programs even greater, and to foster innovative new initiatives addressing societal needs and leveraging interdisciplinary strengths. Learn more...

Student Experience:
Our distinctive brand of education is not only for the mind, but for the heart and spirit as well. Co-curricular and extracurricular activities, support services, new and improved facilities, and other amenities set Duquesne apart from its peers. Learn more...
