Spring 2012 Graduation at Duquesne University

Graduation is a very special time when family, friends, faculty and students gather to celebrate the significant achievements of our graduates. The University honors graduating students with a University-wide Commencement Ceremony. President Charles J. Dougherty will officially confer all degrees upon the graduates.

The Baccalaureate mass will precede the Commencement Ceremony at 3 p.m. Diploma Ceremonies on Saturday, May 5, will personally honor each student with the traditional distribution of diploma jackets.

  • Doors to the Palumbo Center will open at 2 p.m. for the Baccalaureate Mass.
  • Graduates should report by 2:30 p.m. to the Auxiliary Gym in the Palumbo Center for processing into Mass.
  • Once Mass begins, entry to the Palumbo Center will be curtailed until 4:15 p.m. Commencement ceremonies begin at 5 p.m.

Regalia (Caps and Gowns)

Graduates must wear appropriate caps and gowns at all academic ceremonies.  Orders may be placed online at www.herffjones.com/duquesne or by contacting the Duquesne Bookstore.  A quantity of caps and gowns will be available in store for purchase starting March 15, 2012.

Diploma Distribution

Diplomas are not automatically mailed to students.  Graduates must provide their diploma handling instructions.

Handicap seating for all events is available but limited. Please call the Office of University Events at 412.396.5131 to inform us of your needs.
