Having dealt with Renaissance printmaking in her doctoral dissertation, Dr. Archer has focused her current research efforts on such topics as the development of printmaking during the last 500 years, the dual role of printmaking as popular art and media for artistic communication, and the impact of workshop organization and of contemporary social events on artists working in these media. In addition, she has interests in the history of patronage, collecting, American architecture, and historic preservation. She has published several articles on these topics, including "Where We Stand: Preservation in the 1990s" in The Public Historian (Fall 1991). Dr. Archer has also published The Illustrated Bartsch: Italian Masters of the 16th Century: Anonymous Masters of the School of Marcantonio Raimondi, Jacopo Caraglio, and Guilio Bonasone (1995). She has experience in museum curating and gallery administration and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
