NATURE OF WORK:

This is specialized work in the area of support and service for the University's academic and administrative computing needs. The scope of this position requires knowledge of personal computers, software and laser jet printers and other peripheral devices. Regular duties for the Computer Technician include, but are not limited to, the support and service of laser jet printers, computer hardware, and computer software for staff, faculty and students.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:

  1. Provides support, service and preventative maintenance for university owned laser jet printers.
  2. Provides support and service for privately owned computer hardware and software.
  3. Coordinates with external vendors for hardware and software service.
  4. Configures and installs standard campus software.
  5. Configures and installs network printers.
  6. Removes and properly disposes of old equipment.
  7. Maintains facility and equipment inventory.
  8. Regularly checks with the CTS workflow management system (Footprints) to obtain new assignments, update in-progress assignments, and close completed assignments.
  9. Performs related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS OF WORK:

The successful candidate will have earned a two-year technical degree (or its equivalent) in electronics or a related field from an accredited institution and have at least two years of experience in a service position, or any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. NATURE OF WORK:
The Financial Aid Office's administrative assistant is responsible for initiating and coordinating administrative office duties while serving as the initial point of customer-service contact.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:
1. Establishes and maintains various files, logs, records and reports containing confidential information;
2. Receives, screens and refers telephone calls, e-mails and visitors;
3. Helps students determine how much they need to borrow for their education per year;
4. Helps incoming freshmen parents to understand the financial aid process and procedures;
5. Operates a personal computer and respective software to update information and records;
6. Prepares materials and labels for department mailings;
7. Logs receipt of student information and answers requests for additional information from students/parents;
8. Accesses the PHEAA website to determine where and when student loans will be released;
9. Works closely with the Financial Aid Assistant Director;
10. Enters freshman/transfer undergraduate and graduate aid applications.

REQUIREMENTS OF WORK:
The successful candidate will have earned a high school diploma, and completion of an Associate's degree from an accredited institution and/or business school is preferred. The candidate must have completed a minimum of 1 to 2 years' relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience or training. Experience in a higher education setting and with student systems is highly preferred. Required skills include but are not limited to the following: ability to be detail oriented and work in a highly collaborative environment; ability to communicate effectively with multiple university constituencies; ability to work independently on responsible and confidential assignments; ability to understand and follow detailed oral and written instructions; ability to learn assigned tasks readily and adhere to prescribed procedures; ability to create and maintain complex records and files; knowledge of PCs and software, preferably Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access; proficiency with email and internet use; sensitivity to the need of each individual to be treated with dignity and respect as it relates to diversity in general and the Mission of the University specifically; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University Community. NATURE OF WORK:

This position involves the performance of high-level and complex office duties, managing the daily operations of a busy career services department including the front office customer service area, the Career Resource Library, online job postings, and department finances. Requires considerable contact with a variety of customers including students, alumni, employers, and faculty. Work is performed under the direction of the Director of Career Services.

  1. Maintains a working knowledge of all department programs and services.

  7. Coordinates all department purchases, reconciles procurement card statements and maintains detailed purchasing records. Monitors department budgets in Banner system.
  8. Monitors and answers daily emails from the Career Services email account.
  9. Assists at Career Services outreach, programs and events.
  10. Controls inventory and purchases supplies; keep storage areas organized.
  11. Maintains Career Resource Library including purchase of books and print materials, upkeep of computer stations, cataloguing books, and serving as liaison to Gumberg Library.
  12. Manages credential service for graduate school applications including establishing and maintaining student files and working with faculty writing recommendations.
  13. Manages reciprocity service with other universities including responding to requests for reciprocity and maintaining accurate records.
  14. Maintains department technology including purchasing, monitoring, and maintenance of computers, printers, and video equipment.
  15. Ensures office filing system is maintained; ensure copies of all essential documents or forms are placed in respective file.
  16. Serves on department teams including marketing team and information resources team.
  17. Performs additional duties as assigned by the Director of Career Services.

This position has significant responsibilities for planning and implementing job and internship fairs and other career-related events for students. This position assists with outreach to employers to increase participation in recruiting events at Duquesne. The position requires a high-level of interaction with staff, students, and employers. Work is performed under the general direction of the Director of Career Services.
