NATURE OF WORK:
The Legal Research & Writing Program ("LRW") is an integral part of the academic program of the School of Law. There are approximately a dozen professors teaching in the program every year (a full-time faculty director, three full-time faculty members, and eight or nine adjunct faculty members). Over one third of the student body is taking courses in the program every year; all first year students (day and evening divisions) are required to take the year-long LRW course, and elective upper-level courses are offered to approximately fifty students in the spring semester. The required LRW courses are taught on Wednesdays and Fridays for the day division students and on Thursday nights for the evening division students. The LRW Program offices are in a newly renovated area of the law school, within the law library: The Bridget & Alfred Pelaez Legal Writing Center. The Center includes offices for three full-time faculty, two shared offices for adjuncts, two shared offices for upper-level student Teaching Assistants, and dedicated space for an Administrative Assistant.


The successful candidate must have a capacity to relate to students, other staff, and faculty and will work with the Director and full-time LRW faculty to assist with the development of the legal Writing Program within the Law School, the University, and broader geographic, professional, and academic communities. *The ability to be present when classes meet (Wednesdays, Fridays, and part of Thursday evenings) is necessary.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:
1. Supports the Director's administration of the LRW Program, including the planning and execution of programmatic initiatives.
2. Works collaboratively with administration, faculty, alumni, and students to support LRW Program events and activities.
3. Tracks budget and expenditures for the LRW Program for the Director and Full-time Faculty, in conjunction with the Law School's Office Manager.
4. Ensures that adjunct faculty and student Teaching Assistance comply in a timely manner with University and Law School requirements for payroll and other administrative matters.
5. Attends and assists with Program-sponsored events, meetings, and related forums.
6. Assists the Director and full-time Faculty with conferences, travel, public relations activities, and related facets of their faculty responsibilities, and helps with the creation and dissemination of promotional materials.
7. Assists the Director and full-time Faculty with the production of scholarship and engagement in related academic and service activities, such as hosting regional and national conferences at Duquesne.
8. Prepares event schedules and related correspondence for spring semester appellate oral arguments involving approximately 80 alumni, a dozen Program faculty, student Teaching Assistants, and several hundred law students. Sorts, distributes, and mails documents, including over 200 student appellate briefs, to alumni and faculty. Takes the lead responsibility for arranging classroom assignments and facilitating alumni, faculty, and student participant involvement in the weekend oral arguments, including arranging for meals. Directs student Teaching Assistants in their support of the execution of the appellate oral argument program.
9. Maintains the LRW Program section of the Law School website and maintains Blackboard course websites for the LRW Program and classes.
10. Maintains the LRW Program office equipment, including the purchase of supplies, and the distribution of mail. Also facilitates telephonic and e-mail communication, orders textbooks, and oversees security of the Program's offices.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS OF WORK:
The successful candidate will have preferably earned a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and have prior administrative assistant work experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. NATURE OF WORK:
Reporting to the Circulation Coordinator, this position has responsibility for providing services at the Circulation desk during evening and weekend hours. Duties include providing courteous and efficient services to library users; charging and discharging materials; and opening and closing the library, shelving and shifting materials, and other projects as assigned.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:
1. Assists library users at the public service desk and by telephone.
2. Charges/discharges materials through SIRSI system (books, AV materials, laptops, carrel keys).
3. Maintains security of library. Contact appropriate personnel when needed.
4. Prepares and shelves materials.
5. Collects fines/maintain and updates user records.
6. Operates and balances cash drawer.
7. Opens/Closes building following a checklist.
8. Shifts collections as assigned.
9. Assists library users with equipment photocopiers and microform machines.
10. Assists with E-Z Borrow, hold, and Interlibrary Loan functions as assigned.
11. Supervises activities and assignments of student assistants as needed.
12. Performs other related duties and completes special projects as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS OF WORK:
The successful candidate will have earned a high school diploma (Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred) and have a minimum of one year experience working in a public service area of an academic library, or any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following: working knowledge of a library; strong commitment to customer service; strong organizational skills; basic computer literacy including the use of e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets; ability to maneuver book carts and move books, including reaching and lifting; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University Community. NATURE OF WORK:
The Part-Time Office Assistant II will provide secretarial and clerical assistance to the Director, Assistant Director, faculty and students in the Mylan School of Pharmacy Weekend Pathway Program. This individual will be required to work Friday through Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:
1. Serve as the primary point of contact for weekend students and faculty for the Weekend Pathway Program.
2. Individual must employ tact, sensitivity and insight when communicating with current and prospective students.
3. Enter data in the Banner Student Information System, as well as Excel spreadsheets, and maintain various reports and other information.
4. Provide clerical support to the Director, Assistant Director and faculty.
5. Order all supplies for Weekend Program faculty, staff and students.

The successful candidate will have 2 - 5 years of experience in general clerical/secretarial work and possess a minimum of an Associate's Degree, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to the following: excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively both written and oral; ability to use independent judgment; strong organizational skills, high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), Adobe Professional and HP Scanner Software is required; ability to learn or have experience in University data systems including Maximo, DORI, Banner and Blackboard; ability to maintain confidential information; sensitivity to the need of each individual to be treated with dignity and respect as it relates to diversity in general and the Mission of the University specifically; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University community.\
