Our Heritage:

  • Duquesne was founded by the Congregation of the Holy Spirit in 1878. Today, Duquesne University is the largest and most comprehensive Catholic University in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the only Spiritan University in the world.  The Spiritans continue to play an important and inspirational role in the campus' ethical teachings and outreach. The Duquesne community contributes about 200,000 hours of voluntary service each year, with 7,750 students engaged in community service.
