Courses shown are required. Students are advised that the graduation requirement for all divisions is 86 credits.

All matriculating students are required to satisfy an upper level writing requirement and a professional skills course.

Because Duquesne periodically reviews and revises its curriculum, course offerings and credit hours are subject to change at any time.

J.D. Curriculum

The first year of study consists solely of required courses.

Small class sizes are further enhanced by dividing several first-year courses into smaller sections, allowing for more individualized instruction.

In subsequent years of study, additional courses solidify the foundation laid in the first year.

Students also select elective courses to broaden their scope or to concentrate in specific legal fields.

Upper Level Writing Requirement

Students are required to complete before graduation an original work of acceptable professional quality involving a significant exploration of a single major topic.

See Upper Level Writing Requirement

Clinical and Practicum Programs

Students are encouraged to explore clinical and practicum opportunities while in Law School
