These two workshops, each 4 hours in length will introduce participants to a research backed framework of coaching leaders in a time of dynamic change for businesses and corporations: Theoretical underpinnings, aspects of coaching leaders to best results, self leadership and executive management will all be explored.

Designed for business coaches, consultants, and executives interested in gaining a deeper understanding of designing their own approach to coaching leaders and leadership coaching mastery.

The workshop will focus on:

  1. Accessing the "coach within" by leading from the inside out: integrating relevant experiences, interpersonal style and education in order to leverage strengths and skills;
  2. Expanding self-‐awareness and self-‐management of coach and leader;
  3. Introducing complexities of relationships within complex business systems and how this can affect the coaching relationship; and
  4. Internal versus External coaching programs.

Impacting Your Coaching Practice with Neuroscience
Dr. Barbara Schwarck, PCC
July 21, 2012 - 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Up until now, most coaching theories evolved out of social psychology research or behavioral observations. While these have served us well, recent developments within the field of neuroscience are giving coaches a reason to pause and perhaps change their old ways of coaching. Neuroscience gives us information on how the brain functions in real time. In other words we now understand how the structure and functioning of the brain impacts our clients' problem solving and decision making skills, their ability to work with others and, most important, how their emotions impact their ability to function overall.

As coaches our job is to support our clients' success, however that might be defined by them. Neuroscience shows us that success is not only a function of the conscious mind, but many biochemical processes that are deeply imbedded in our body and consciousness. The research of such notable scientists as Goleman, Pert, Pavlov, and Pentland indicates that the key to improving one's performance is getting all parts of the brain aligned. The most powerful component in attaining and sustaining success and change is being aligned with your goals. Without goal congruency, success is merely a function of luck.

Participants in the program will:

  1. Learn about the three parts of the human brain and understand how they support or hinder success;
  2. Understand the role language and emotion play in creating success;
  3. Explore the concept of neuro-emotional alignment;
  4. Refine or redesign "old" coaching skills to fit the new paradigm of neuroscience; and
  5. Design an action plan that will integrate the new learnings into the current coaching practice.

The following courses are offered on a rotating basis.

Establishing an Online Coaching Presence (15 hours)
Faculty: Ann McIver McHoes, MSIS (video, online and webinar)
December 13, 2012,  January 24, January 31 and February 14, 2013

Create your own professional website using the tools available from Google and others on the Internet. Learn the many ethical situations of an on-line presence. This course will help beginners learn the essential skills and practices to design, write, build, and maintain a website, including how to avoid ethical pitfalls, address the needs of their target audience and research how visitors use the web. Special emphasis is placed on recognizing how the ICF Core Competencies are included in a coaching web site. Assignments include reviewing the sites of other coaches and noting design features that work and those that might not. The course is perfect for beginners. Those with prior knowledge about the web will enjoy learning more about current research and ethical considerations as well as practical techniques for coaches creating their own web presence

Leading and Coaching Across Generations (15 hours) - This course will not be offered this year.
Asynchronous, online learning through Bb Discussion Board and online case studies
Faculty: Donna Billings, MBE, PCC (online only)

Participants will learn specific "coaching tools" to add to their toolkits that address issues in multigenerational workplaces, offer best practices for leading and coaching this "Generational Mix", and evaluate "out of the box", creative strategies for coaching effectively across generations.
