Committees

The Residence Hall Association consists of various committees to target specific RHA and resident students needs. The following committees have open meetings that students may attend to help in the development of RHA functions, address residential concerns or just to get some information about what is going on around campus and in the Living/Learning Centers:

Communications Committee

The RHA Communications committee is comprised of eight (8) members: the RHA Director of Communications  who serves as the non-voting chair of the committee, and the seven (7) Residence Hall Council VPs of Communications' who serve as the voting members of the committee.

The RHA Communications committee was formed to focus on the following things:

  • The social presence of RHA on campus through public relations efforts
  • The social presence of RHA on social networking sites
  • The internal and external communications of RHA and Residence Life
  • Membership recruitment and retention strategies
  • Create leadership opportunities and community with the Residence Hall Association

Finance Committee

The RHA Finance Committee is comprised of nine (9) members: the RHA Director of Finance who serves as the non-voting chair of the committee, alternate VP of Communications' (RHA or RHC) who serves as a non-voting member of the committee whose job is to take the minutes of the meeting, and the seven (7) Residence Hall Council VPs of Finances who serve as the voting members of the committee.

The Finance Committee meets bi-weekly and was formed to:

  • Approve the expenditure of RHA funds
  • Approve the allocation of funds to the Residence Hall Councils
  • Create leadership opportunities and community with the Residence Hall Association

Programming Committee

The RHA Programming Committee is comprised of nine (9) members: the RHA Director of Programming who serves as the non-voting chair of the committee, alternate VP of Communications' (RHA or RHC) who serves as a non-voting member of the committee whose job is to take the minutes of the meeting, and the seven (7) Residence Hall Council Executive VPs who serve as the voting members of the committee.

The RHA Programming committee was formed to focus on the following things:

  • RHA programming collaboration efforts with outside organizations
  • The development and implementation of RHA programming 
  • To ensure that all RHA programming and collaborations follow the Mission Statement of Duquesne University
  • The planning and execuition of the annual RHA events like:
    • Sibling's Weekend
    • Haunted Hayride Trip
    • Ice Skating Trip
    • Trips to shopping outlets
    • and more!

Residential Affairs Committee

The RHA Residential Affairs Committee is comprised of nine (9) members: the RHA President who serves as the non-voting chair of the committee, alternate VP of Communications' (RHA or RHC) who serves as a non-voting member of the committee whose job is to take the minutes of the meeting, and the seven (7) Residence Hall Council Presidents who serve as the voting members of the committee.

The RHA Residential Affairs committee was formed to:

  • Gain feedback and suggestions on residential policies and procedures
  • Gain feedback on Living/Learning Center upgrades and suggestions
  • Gain feedback and suggestions on the RHA and RHC policies
  • Gain feedback and suggestions on the operation of RHA and its Hall Councils
  • Brainstorm new membership recruitment and retention strategies
  • Foster communication, community, and partnership within the Living/Learning Centers and the Office of Residence Life
