Sigma Nu Fraternity was founded on January 1st, 1869 at Virginia Military Institute. The fraternity was chartered at Duquesne University on December 5th, 1982. Our national philanthropy is the St. Jude Foundation,
Sigma Nu's national philanthropy is the St. Jude Foundation, however, the Duquesne Chapter supports the American Gold Star Mothers. Every year, the brothers host the White Rose Ball as their philanthropy and are projected to raise approximately $15,000 annually for charity.
The brothers have won the highest honor at Duquesne University, the President's Cup from 2011-2014. They have also won the Rock Chapter Award which is given to the most successful Sigma Nu chapters in the world. In 2016, Sigma Nu was awarded Best Philanthropy event amongst all Sigma Nu chapters.
