Programs & Events
The Office of Commuter Affairs staff sponsors a variety of events and programs throughout the year. All commuter students are encouraged to attend as many programs as their schedule will allow. If any student ever has suggestions on how to improve a program or would like to see a program happen, don't hesitate to let our staff know!
Here are some of the programs that are sponsored by Commuter Affairs:
- Commuter Pre-Orientation
- PB & J Wednesdays
- School Lunches
- Thanksgiving & Easter Potluck Dinners
- Meet Program
- South Side Neighborhood Social
Commuter Pre-Orientation is a day intended to assist new freshman and commuter students in getting to know their Commuter Assistant (CA), the Office of Commuter Affairs staff, and other new commuter students. The day consists of CA meetings, a tour of campus, a series of fun team building activities, and our annual "Commuter Olympics" event. Both lunch and dinner are complimentary and provided by the Office of Commuter Affairs.
Commuter Pre-Orientation is held the day before (Tuesday) the university orientation program begins. It is strongly encouraged that all new commuter students attend this popular event. If you plan on attending, please RSVP by the Friday before by either calling 412-396-6660 or e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
We hope to see you there!
Every Wednesday at 12 Noon in the Commuter Center lobby, a different school or department on campus comes and makes complimentary Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwiches for commuter students. This is a great way for students to meet faculty and staff from all across campus and interact with them outside of a formal setting. PB&J Wednesdays are popular among both faculty/staff and students. The line starts forming early, so make sure you get down to get your PB&J!
