M.S. Ed. Marriage and Family Therapy

Duquesne University Counselor Education Program offers students an opportunity to complete the Master of Science in Education in School Counseling (with certifications in both elementary and secondary), Community Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy. All three areas are offered during weekdays and evenings. In addition, we also offer a Saturday Studies Program.

The master's degree program in Counselor Education at Duquesne is one of only a handful of programs that are nationally accredited in Pennsylvania. The Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Program’s (CACREP) approval of the Duquesne program permits graduates to apply for national certification while in the last semester of study; this can save the graduate two years of post master's experience.

The Marriage and Family Therapy program requires a minimum of 60 credits. The program enables graduates to obtain a License in Marriage and Family Therapy in Pennsylvania and pursue a career in marriage and family agencies and in private practice settings.
