About the Office of Mission and Identity

Founded in 1997, the Office of Mission and Identity maintains and promotes the Catholic and Spiritan mission of the University and the values it espouses.  It seeks to accomplish this goal through the coordination, animation, and development of programs and initiatives which engage students, faculty, administration, staff, directors, board members and alumni in an understanding of the religious identity of the University and its commitments.  It directly oversees the work of the Office of Campus Ministry, the Center for Catholic Social Thought, and the Center for Spiritan Studies.

Since every office and effort on the Duquesne campus plays a part in the realization of Duquesne's mission, the work of the Office of Mission and Identity is highly collaborative.  By encouraging students, faculty, and staff to see their work as part of a larger effort to serve the common good and explore the various ways in which faith and service lie at the heart of a Duquesne education, the Spiritan mission of the University is realized and enhanced.

Guided by the overarching goal of the Strategic Plan (2010-2015) that "our extraordinary and pervasive sense of mission as a Spiritan Catholic university will be the guide for all Duquesne University does," the Office of Mission and Identity is committed to the vital integration of mission throughout every area of University life.
