Credits
One-week and two-week courses are valued at two or three graduate credits. Only two credits per course may be applied to the Master of Music in Music Education degree. Any course may be audited without credit; however, there is no tuition discount for audited courses. Courses can also be taken for continuing education units. Each graduate credit is $350.
Tuition/Fees/Payment (Credit courses)
Tuition for all three-credit courses is $1,050. For some courses, a materials fee may be required, and students should be prepared to pay up to $50 for that fee on the first day of class. Because summer tuition is lower than tuition in the fall and spring semesters, special rates and tuition reduction programs do not apply to summer session coursework. Payment for tuition can be made by check or money order. To use a Mastercard or Discover credit card, students must register at www.dori.duq.edu and follow the instructions for payment. A 2.55% interest rate will apply to all credit card payments.
Tuition/Fees/Payment (Workshops)
Please visit the individual workshop to see workshop fees. Payment is available via either check or credit card (call 800.934.0159 for workshop credit card payments).
Act 48 Credits (Credit Courses)
Professional educators can receive Act 48 hours/credits for both credit courses and non-credit workshops. After the completion of the course, visit www.duq.edu/education/act48.cfm. Further instructions can be found at that address.
Act 48 Hours (Non-credit Workshops)
Professional educators can receive Act 48 hours/credits for both credit courses and non-credit workshops. After the completion of the workshop, call or email Moira Jones (jonesm4@duq.edu / 412.396.6118) and she will process the hours/credits for you. Please have your professional personal ID number and the names of the courses you completed when you contact her.
Registration/Deadline
Completed registration forms, including full tuition payment, should be postmarked at least 14 days prior to the course or workshop’s first day of class. Send registration and payment to Summer 2012, Mary Pappert School of Music, Duquesne University, 600 Forbes Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15282-1800.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be made through the Duquesne University Mary Pappert School of Music. Refunds of tuition, less a $50 fee per course, may be requested until noon, Eastern Daylight Savings Time, on the Thursday prior to the course or workshop’s first day of class. Any course cancellation made after this deadline will result in a forfeiture of full tuition. Duquesne University reserves the right to cancel any course if minimum enrollment is not reached 14 days prior to the first class session, in which case all deposits will be returned or applied to another course.
