12th Annual Katie Westbrook 5K/Dog Walk Slated for Saturday at Duquesne

The Duquesne University School of Law and its Student Bar Association (SBA) will host the 12th annual Katie Westbrook Race-Ipsa Loquitur 5K walk/run on campus this weekend.

The 5K walk/run is held each year in memory of Westbrook, who, at age 15, lost her battle with osteosarcoma-a rare form of bone cancer-on June 3, 2001, just hours before she was to receive an honorary degree at the School of Law Commencement ceremony.

Proceeds from the 5K will benefit the SBA Centennial Endowed Fund, which helps Duquesne University law students with the cost of non-tuition needs, including books, supplies and bar-preparation course fees. Last year's event raised $5,000.
