Annual Katie Westbrook Race Slated at Duquesne

The Duquesne Student Bar Association is hosting the 13th Annual Katie Westbrook Memorial 5k Walk/Run Race on campus.

The 5k walk/run is held each year in memory of Westbrook, who lost her battle with osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, on June 3, 2001, just hours before she was to receive an honorary degree at the Duquesne University School of Law Commencement ceremony.

Proceeds from the 5k are donated to the law school’s Katie Westbrook Award, which is presented annually to an individual(s) who demonstrate a clear passion for advocacy and the practice of law, and to UPMC’s Katie’s Fund, which supports research and ongoing clinical needs for the hematology/oncology department.

When: Saturday, Oct. 9, at 10 a.m.

Where: Duquesne University, 600 Forbes Ave., Pittsburgh
