Author Stewart O’Nan to Visit DU for a Reading and Book Signing

Acclaimed novelist Stewart O'Nan will read from his fiction, take audience questions and do a book signing on Monday, March 26, at 7 p.m. in Duquesne University's Power Center Ballroom.

Having published 13 novels in the last 18 years, O'Nan is one of the most prolific authors working today. His latest book-The Odds-tells the story of a long-married couple, both out of work, who head to the casinos in Niagara Falls to gamble everything they have left.

"I've been a fan of O'Nan's work for a long time," said John Fried, DU assistant professor of English, who organized the event as part of the University's First-Year Writing Program. "He is a world-renowned author who was raised in Pittsburgh, and we're really lucky to get to bring him here."

Fried noted that, through the First-Year Writing Program, at least 60 sections of students are reading different works by O'Nan this semester. "Many of the classes are reading Last Night at the Lobster, and others are reading his short stories," Fried explained.

At the event, O'Nan will read from Last Night at the Lobster and then take questions from the audience. Afterward, he will sign books. Attendees may bring their own copies or purchase new books in the Barnes & Noble Bookstore at Duquesne.
