Electronic Ensemble performance featuring directors Lynn Emberg Purse and Kenneth Karsh.

Thursday, Dec. 4

Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Workshop featuring directors Mike Tomaro and Jeff Bush.

Friday, Dec. 5  

Lessons with Carols at Duquesne

A contemporary version of the Service of Nine Lessons with Carols, first presented in Cambridge, England, in 1918, this performance will feature the Mary Pappert School of Music's Voices of Spirit and the Pappert Women's Chorale (conducted by Craig G. Cannon), and the Pappert Men's Chorale (conducted by Guy Russo) with special guest Joe Negri, adjunct guitar professor. This updated service will feature the reading of nine contemplative lessons, original writings by Pittsburgh poet David Belczyk and the retelling of the Advent story from Genesis through the four Gospels.

Sunday, Dec. 14  

Music on the Mount: Christmas Brass

This series of free music concerts at Mt. Washington's Saint Mary of the Mount parish provides Duquesne University music students with a community outreach opportunity and a music performance for the community to enjoy. This performance will feature the Mary Pappert School of Music's Brass Ensemble with director Ron Spang.

3 p.m., St. Mary of the Mount Parish, Mt. Washington, 403 Grandview Ave., Pittsburgh.

Cost: Free.
