Duquesne President Explores University’s Mission and Identity at Convocation

Duquesne President Charles J. Dougherty will reflect on the University’s mission and identity during his 2011 Convocation address.

“Of all the things that unite us, the most important is our purpose for being here together at this time and place, doing the special things we do,” said Dougherty. “We call that purpose our mission, and it is linked inextricably to our institutional identity as a Spiritan, Catholic university.”

During his remarks, Dougherty will focus on the University in the Spiritan tradition and the areas of academic excellence, service, the integrity of creation, community of faith, moral and spiritual values, the Spiritan mission and goals, and serving God by serving students.

In addition, faculty excellence awards will be presented, new endowed chairs will be recognized and faculty marking 25 years of service will be honored at Convocation.

    When: Friday, Sept. 9, at 3 p.m.

Where: Fourth Floor Union Ballroom, Duquesne University, 600 Forbes Ave.
