Duquesne University’s Business School Named a Top University Sales Program for 2017
Duquesne University is one of only three institutions in the state to be named to the Sales Education Foundation's 2017 Top Universities for Professional Sales Education list.
On the list since 2013, Duquesne is again among the universities recognized for preparing students for careers in professional selling and helping to elevate the sales profession.
"This recognition by the Sales Education Foundation underscores our ongoing commitment to our professional sales program," said Dr. Dean McFarlin, dean of the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business. "We plan to focus on business-to-business selling going forward and will be dramatically elevating our ability to offer students compelling experiences with the launch of our new Center for Excellence in Professional Selling and the Steel City Sales Challenge this fall."
Less than 5 percent of four-year colleges and universities in North America offer verified sales programs, McFarlin said.
"At Duquesne, we provide transformative experiences for our students that prepare them to excel in the marketplace," said Dr. Dorene Ciletti, assistant professor of marketing and sports marketing, who was instrumental in obtaining the recognition." Students graduating from our sales program are well-positioned to more quickly add value to an organization and support revenue growth."
The foundation reported that top sales programs, such as Duquesne's, average about 92 percent job placement for their students within three months of graduation.
"Candidates from these (sales) programs are more prepared to align with their initial sales roles and to compete in the ever-changing global economy," said Sally Stevens, executive director of the foundation.
Founded in 1878, Duquesne is consistently ranked among the nation's top Catholic universities for its award-winning faculty and tradition of academic excellence. Duquesne, a campus of nearly 10,000 graduate and undergraduate students, has been nationally recognized for its academic programs, community service and commitment to sustainability.
