Members of Duquesne’s freshman class, along with their parents and families, will begin their five-day Orientation program today to help them acclimate to the University and college life. New transfer students also participate in Orientation, which runs through Sunday, Aug. 21.

Designed by Duquesne upperclassmen, this year’s Orientation is based on the theme The Foundation is Set…Build Your Own Masterpiece.

Among the scheduled events and activities are:

    • Matriculation Ceremony: students are officially “matriculated” into Duquesne as students and each receive a Duquesne pin
    • Guided Campus Tours as well as trolley tours of Pittsburgh
    • Lunches with school deans
    • A parent dinner
    • A community service project on the South Side.

Duquesne University begins the 2011-12 academic year on Monday, Aug. 22.
