Juan Williams to Keynote OMA Unity Banquet and Scholarship Event
Political analyst and Emmy Award-winning author Juan Williams will be the keynote speaker at the inaugural Unity Banquet and Scholarship Benefit sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA).
The annual event will recognize University students for their academic and leadership accomplishments. In addition, students will acknowledge faculty and staff who have been instrumental in their success, learning and development.
“The Unity Banquet and Scholarship Benefit is important because it highlights the value we place on embracing each other our across differences,” said Rahmon Hart, director of the OMA. “It is a time that we can fellowship, network and recognize the unique accomplishments of our student leaders.”
Williams, a renowned journalist and author, is the senior correspondent of National Public Radio (NPR) and is a political analyst with FOX News. He hosted Talk of The Nation for NPR and was an award-winning writer and columnist for more than 20 years at The Washington Post. He has received an Emmy for documentary writing and is the author of My Soul Looks Back in Wonder: Voices of the Civil Rights Experience and Thurgood Marshall: American Revolutionary. He also is the author of the best seller Eyes on the Prize: America’s Civil Rights Years, 1954-1965.
The event is open to the public. Tickets to the Unity Banquet and Scholarship Benefit are $30 and can be purchased by calling 412.396.1117. Proceeds from the banquet will benefit the OMA Scholarship Fund, which assists multicultural students or student leaders served under the umbrella of the OMA who demonstrate financial need.
