McCandless Resident to Participate in AERA Statistics Institute
Dr. Gibbs Kanyongo, assistant professor in the School of Education’s Department of Foundations and Leadership, is one of only 25 educational statisticians selected nationally to participate in the American Educational Research Association’s (AERA) Statistics Institute for Faculty at Stanford University from July 21-24.
The Statistics Institute for Faculty is designed to help develop a critical mass of U.S. education researchers using large-scale federal data sets, especially those researchers sponsored by the National Center for Education Statistics, the National Science Foundation and other federal agencies. These data sets offer an opportunity for students and early-career scholars to conduct research and learn advanced quantitative methods with high quality policy relevant data.
According to the AERA, the institute “aims to ‘train the trainers,’ enabling more education researchers to take advantage of these rich data resources.”
Kanyongo resides in McCandless.
