School of Nursing Again Named a Gold-Level Military Friendly® School
The Duquesne University School of Nursing has earned the prestigious Military Friendly® School designation at the gold-level ranking for the second consecutive year.
The Military Friendly® classification is considered to be among the most comprehensive resources for veterans today. First published in 2009, the Military Friendly® Schools list is provided to service members and their families, helping them select the best college, university or trade school to receive the education and training needed to pursue a civilian career.
"We are honored to educate veterans and military service men and women in their effort to become professional nurses and advanced practice nurses," said Dr. Mary Ellen Glasgow, dean and professor of the School of Nursing at Duquesne. "They have sacrificed so much for our country and deserve our full support."
Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from Victory Media's proprietary survey. For the first time, student survey data was taken into consideration for the designation.
"It is a privilege to continue to serve veterans, reservists and active duty military members," said Nursing Professor Dr. Patricia Watts Kelley, director of the Veteran to Bachelor's in Nursing (VBSN) Program at Duquesne University, who also is a retired Navy Nurse Corps Captain. "The VBSN program supports our 'nation's heroes' through support, guidance and services to ensure successful transition into their nursing careers."
Ratings methodology, criteria and weightings were determined by Victory Media with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community.
