Student Elected to Student Nurses' Association of PA (SNAP) Board

Congratulation to Carolyn McDermott, sophomore nursing student, was elected to the Student Nurses' Association of PA (SNAP) board as Greater Pittsburgh Regional Coordinator at the annual SNAP convention.


Pittsburgh Foundation Awards Scholarships to Seven Nursing Students

The scholarships were awarded through two separate endowments: The William Henry Fitch Memorial Trust Fund and the Sheena M. Taylor Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Student Wins NLN Writing Competition

Photo of Amy Wodzinski and Eileen Zungolo Senior nursing student, Amy Wodzinski, was the winner of the National League for Nursing's Student Excellence Paper Competition.  Duquesne University School of Nursing is an NLN Center of Excellence and Amy's paper reflected on excellence in nursing education.  Her paper will be published in the NLN's journal, Nursing Education Perspectives.  Congratulations Amy!

Grant Award

Congratulations to Toni Torrey, PhD Candidate in the School of Nursing, for receiving a $5000 grant from the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric & Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN).The grant will be used to conduct her dissertation study, "Development/Psychometric Evaluation of a Structured Instrument to Assess Treatment Fidelity of a Brief Opportunistic Intervention Designed to Reduce Substance Use Among Pregnant Women. "
