Transcultural/International Nursing Certificate

National and global changes in demographics, a changing global economy, pandemic health concerns have further dramatized the need for transcultural/International nursing. This certificate was designed to prepare students to use transcultural nursing theories, models and approaches in both research and the practice settings. Participants will engage in inquiry related to transcultural nursing care phenomena and more specifically with vulnerable populations in the context of social justice. The certificate program can be taken as a post masters certificate or in conjunction with the PhD program. This certificate also prepares students to take the certification exam offered by the Transcultural Nursing Society.

OBJECTIVES

  • Provide culturally relevant nursing care to individuals, families, and target populations.
  • Apply principles of transcultural nursing and health care within various nursing practice roles.
  • Describe approaches that emphasize cultural competence in nursing and health care research.
