Center for Nursing Research
Mission
The Center for Nursing Research (CNR) mission is to provide support services to faculty and students that facilitate research development and promote research and scholarly productivity. The CNR is dedicated to creating an environment in the School of Nursing that is conducive to research, scholarship, and the advancement of nursing science. It supports both qualitative and quantitative methodologies with a particular emphasis on health disparities, chronic deviations from health, and cultural competence.
Faculty Advisory Board
Members of the Faculty Advisory Board for the Center for Nursing Research (CNR) meet on a monthly basis and include the following faculty from the School of Nursing:

The major functions of the CNR Faculty Advisory Board are to:

Offer advice to the Director of the Center for Nursing Research

Review and provide feedback on procedures and guidelines developed for CNR activities

Support the mission and activities of the CNR

Provide guidance in regard to the mission and goals of the CNR
Forum for Research and Scholarship (FORS)
Scholarly activities that promote excellence in research are offered to faculty on a regular basis through the Forum for Research and Scholarship (FORS). FORS is held each month (or more often when requested) for faculty to share ideas, engage in intellectual debate, discuss methodological and recruitment issues, and promote research and writing endeavors. Mock reviews are held prior to grant submission in order to assist faculty in writing high quality proposals.
FORS also provides collegial critique to assist fellow researchers in the dissemination of research findings via manuscript preparation and podium or poster presentations. A journal club may be held at the request of individual faculty. In addition, faculty workshops are offered periodically by experts in nursing research. FORS, in collaboration with the Center for Nursing Research (CNR), provides resources to promote research and scholarship and workshops by nurse experts. Information about grant writing workshops is provided and support for attending those workshops is often provided through the CNR. An electronic newsletter is published at the end of each semester to highlight faculty and student research and scholarship (see below).
