Mylan School of Pharmacy and
the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences

Welcome to the School

We have a proud legacy—to prepare today’s student pharmacists and pharmaceutical sciences graduate students to meet the challenges of tomorrow. Faculty, staff, preceptors and academic partners who know what it takes to make a difference in the educational experience of our students share this mission

We are looking forward to the opening of our “Home for Active Learning,” the Bayer Learning Center second floor renovations. Educators now recognize the critical added value of active learning—an approach through which students become full partners and accountable for their education. Rather than simply absorbing information, students are challenged to participate through analysis and synthesis, apply the information learned in classes and labs, experience outside learning, reflect, and demonstrate competency.

Active learning is especially important in pharmacy. Pharmacists’ roles in promoting wellness and providing drug therapy management are expanding. Technology is evolving rapidly. It is no longer sufficient for students to soak up knowledge; they must develop and practice self-direction, flexibility, critical thinking, and individual and teamwork skills—well before they begin their first field experiences.
