Dr. Morrison joined the Policy Cente'sr faculty in fall 2007. She is also an affiliated faculty member of the University of Pittsburgh's Center for Bioethics and Health Law. Prior to coming to Duquesne, Professor Morrison taught sociology at Oakland University in Michigan. Dr. Morrison's work focuses on the impact of social policies on the people they are designed to serve, and the interaction between the human objects of policy and those who design, implement and evaluate it.

Research, Publications and Service
Dr. Morrison is the author of Talking Back to Psychiatry: The Consumer/Survivor/Ex-Patient Movement, published by Routledge Press. Her work has been published in Humanity & Society, Radical Psychology, Contemporary Sociology, and The Blackwell Encyclopedia of Sociology. She currently serves on the Publications Committee of the Society for the Study of Symbolic Interaction, and the Smigel Award Committee of the Society for the Study of Social Problems.
Statement
As an activist-researcher in the area of recipient advocacy and activism, I currently focus on power relations, citizen engagement, and the benefits of inclusion in the policy process. These interests extend across the mental health, health, disability and welfare policy arenas.
