How soon can I begin the Program Evaluation Program?
Students are accepted into the Program Evaluation Program in the fall semester only. All application materials should be received by June 15 in order to be considered for the fall term.
In special circumstances, with approval of the Program Directors, materials may be accepted later than the application deadline.
Can this Program be completed on-line?
Yes. All courses required for the Program Evaluation Program are offered in an on-line format. Opportunities for hybrid (face-to-face and on-line) are possible for those who live in the local region.
What is the difference between the Certificate and M.S.Ed. programs?
The master’s degree program requires 39 credits. The Certificate in Program Evaluation will be awarded after the completion of seven core courses (21 credits), which prepares students to work in program evaluation at the basic level. The certificate program is designed for students who wish to obtain competence in program evaluation, but either do not intend to pursue a master’s degree or already have a graduate degree.
If I am an international student, will I need to provide TOEFL scores?
Yes. All international students are required to submit TOEFL scores.
How long will it take to complete the program?
The master’s program may be completed in approximately two years if the student takes 6 credits each semester, including summer sessions. However, the program is flexible and may also be completed on a part-time basis. Course sequencing may be tailored to meet the student’s learning pace.
Are GRE scores required?
GRE scores are not part of the application requirements for the Program Evaluation Program, but they are recommended for acceptance into the Graduate School of Education.
What is required to apply to the program?
To be considered for admission to the Program Evaluation Program, applicants must submit the following documents to the School of Education Graduate Office:
- A completed School of Education graduate online application available at www.graduatestudies.duq.edu/apply.html.
- Official transcripts from the accredited college, university or seminary where the applicant obtained a bachelor’s degree.
- One letter of recommendation, written by a former or current academic advisor, or by a colleague who can attest to your interest in program evaluation.
- A statement of purpose, which should be 2-3 pages in length and explains the relevance of evaluation to your current and future work or career aspirations.
- Pre or post-application interview with Program Directors.
What financial aid is available?
Students are automatically considered for a scholarship upon receipt of an application for admission to the Program Evaluation Program. The amount of the scholarship for those enrolling in the Fall 2011 semester, $1,515 per semester, totals $9,090 for the spring, summer, and fall semesters over two calendar years, making your per credit cost comparable to that of other local universities.

What types of job opportunities will the Program Evaluation Program prepare me for?
Graduates will be prepared to work as program evaluators in government agencies, human service organizations, educational policy agencies, school districts, colleges and universities, health care facilities, philanthropic organizations, and other business corporations. The majority of students who earn a Program Evaluation master’s degree will pursue or have careers as practitioners, providing clients with evaluation results and reports used for decision making that is related to educational and human-service programs.
