Grade Posting Process and Final Exam Schedule
Final Grades
In the fall and spring semesters, final grading is turned on for faculty in Self-Service Banner on the first day of final exams. All final grades are due within 72 hours of the completion of the final exam or the last class meeting. Students cannot automatically see their final grades once they've been entered on the grade roster. The Office of the Registrar must run several database jobs to process grades and to post them to students' transcripts. For fall and spring semesters, this posting process is run for the first time the day after the last day of final exams. So, students cannot begin to see their final grades until the final exam period has ended. The posting process is run twice daily during normal business hours once finals have ended, and grades are then processed and viewable by students as entered by the course instructors.
For Faculty: If you have entered a grade that needs to be changed, you can change it on the grade roster if it has not yet been posted to the student’s transcript. Revisit your roster to see if you can still change it there. If the “Grade” field is no longer a drop-down, and the “Rolled” column contains a “Y,” the grade has been “rolled” to the student’s transcript, and you can no longer change it on the roster. In this case, you must complete a Change of Grade form, which is available in your dean’s office.
Spring 2012 Dates
Faculty can begin entering final grades for students for Spring 2012 classes using Self-Service Banner on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at 8:30 a.m. Final grades are due within 72 hours of the completion of your final exam. All final grades are due no later than Friday, May 4, 2012 at 3:00 p.m.
Students cannot instantly see their grades once they have been entered on the final grade rosters. The Registrar's Office must run several database processes in order to post grades to the database and to Self-Service Banner for students to view online. This grade processing will begin on Wednesday, May 2, and final grades will be posted twice daily during regular business hours.
