ALS Association's mission is to lead the fight to cure and treat Lou Gehrig's Disease through global, cutting edge research, and to empower people with this disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support.
Volunteers would assist in copying, filing, and other administrative duties.
Alzheimer's Association - Greater Pgh Chapter (Liberty Avenue)
Serves 59 counties in Pennsylvania within this area there is an estimated 250,000 individuals with Alzheimer's or related dementia. The chapter provides programs and services to professional caregivers, families and individuals diagnosed.
Volunteers are needed to aid in general office duties, planning for the memory walks, for conferences and other educational programs along with updating the database.
American Cancer Society (Robinson Twp)

American Diabetes Association (Monroeville/Wilkins Township)
ADA is the only diabetes organization committed to improving the lives of all people affected with diabetes approximately 20.8 million. Our outreach includes events such as expositions, family resource networks, summer camps, charity bicycle rides, and walks for diabetes.
Volunteers would be assisting staff in running signature fund-raising events. These positions include general set up, registration, clean-up, and more.
Easter Seals, The – Western Pennsylvania (Strip District)
Easter Seals provides programs and services to over 19,000 children and adults with disabilities and their families in 20 counties in Western Pennsylvania. Our mission is to create solutions and change lives.
Volunteers are needed to assist with Special Events and minor fundraising activities. Pre-requisite: Background Check, Child Abuse Clearance and Act 33 & 34 Clearances are required.
Epilepsy Foundation Western/Central PA (EFWCP) (Pittsburgh)
EFWCP is dedicated to providing programs and services for the prevention, control, and community understanding of epilepsy/seizure disorders. Through innovative and nationally recognized programs and service-public education events, seminars, and workshops - we endeavor to improve the quality of life for people who have epilepsy.
Volunteers are needed for fundraising events, Mardi Gra Galas, and decorating the ballroom of the Westin Convention Center.
Family Hospice and Palliative Care (South Hills)
Family Hospice and Palliative Care is one of the first not-for-profit hospices in Pittsburgh. Today, we are the largest not-for-profit in the region, it serves communities in eleven counties in Western Pennsylvania. Our mission is to provide compassionate, quality comfort care that enhances the lives of the people with life limiting illness and their families. The population we serve is anyone with a life limiting illness.
Volunteers will be trained to be a supportive presence with our patients and families, along with supporting office staff and organized activities. Pre-requisite: 18 yrs of age and attend 12 hour training.
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation - Western PA (Downtown)
JDRF is the world's largest charitable funder and advocate of Type 1 diabetes research. Our mission is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.
Volunteers will assist in office duties and day-of-event assistance for walk, gala, golf, and outreach programs.
Keys Service Corps (Allegheny County)
Keys (knowledge to empower youth to succeed) Service Corps members serve at risk youth in Allegheny County by providing safe places with structured activities, assistance with homework, implementing community service and service learning, involving community volunteers in service.
Volunteers needed for tutoring and mentoring Pittsburgh area youths and facilitating community service projects. Pre-requisites: Age requirement (18), background check, orientation, child abuse clearances, training period and must be a US Citizen.
Legal Resources for Women (YWCA) (Downtown)
Legal Resources for Women mission is to empower women, particularly indigent and low-income, by providing low cost legal education and referrals for compassionate, qualified and affordable legal representation.
Volunteers would assist in data entry, filing, sending out correspondence, answering telephones and mass mailings. Training is required.
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, The (South Side)
LLS is a non-profit agency dedicated to finding the cause and eventual cure for leukemia, lymphoma and Hodgkin's disease. Funds raised by the society benefit our research and patient finances.
Volunteers will assist in aid programs, labeling envelopes, stuffing envelopes, data entry and filing.
Make-a-Wish Foundation (Downtown)
Make-a-Wish foundation grants wishes for children with life threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. Our foundation grants wishes to children from 2 1/2 to 18 years of age. We are celebrating 26 years!
Volunteers will assist in clerical needs, fundraising, marketing and program services and upcoming events. Must be over age 21 and graduated if working with families; however, no pre-requisite needed for special events volunteering.
Myasthenia Gravis Association of Western PA (Downtown)
Myasthenia Gravis Association is an organization that provides support and services to those with Myasthenia Gravis which is a neuro muscular disorder.
Help is needed performing general office work including the preparation of mailings, acknowledgment letter, database entry and special event planning.
National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR) (North Hills)
Autism Speaks is dedicated to finding the cause prevention and cure of the Autism spectrum disorders.
Volunteers are needed for any type of fundraising event to help with Autism. NAAR will help spread the word about your event via newspaper or radio coverage and/or an article in NAAR's "Walk Talk" newsletter about your efforts on our behalf.
National Kidney Foundation (Uptown)
National Kidney Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt, national voluntary health organization. Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of patients and their families, business leaders, community activists, physicians, nurses, and others who are committed to working towards our common mission, which is to prevent kidney and urinary tract diseases, improve the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by these diseases, and increase the availability of all organs for transplantation.
Volunteers will assist in general clerical duties, attend health fairs for staff, special event help and mailings. Orientation will be given.
Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force (East Liberty)
PATF helps people in Southwest PA who are living with HIV or AIDS, and works to prevent the spread of this disease through education and outreach.
Volunteers will assist in administrative tasks to planning events for outreach programs, mailings, safe sex assembly kits, and food pantry.
SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) of PA/Cribs for Kids (North Shore)
Cribs for Kids originated in Pittsburgh through the efforts of SIDS of PA, District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala and the late Mayor Bob O'Connor. This program helps reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome and accidental suffocation by providing cribs to families in need, who would otherwise not have a safe place for their babies to sleep. Cribs for Kids is responsible for cutting SIDS rates in Allegheny County by close to 50% since 1994. The program has rapidly networked to 155 distributing partners in 35 states throughout the US. To date they have distributed more than 30,000 cribs that are saving babies' lives locally and throughout the country.
Volunteers would assist in bulk mailings, assisting in various assignments at fundraising events, networking, picking up auction items, and additional tasks. No requirements necessary.
Spina Bifida Association of Western Pennsylvania (Wexford)
Spina Bifida Association of Western PA is a charitable, non-profit organization committed to improving the quality of life for people with spina bifida and their families, by providing a continuum of direct service, education and advocacy.
Volunteers are needed to assist with the delivery of programming for both children and adults with disabilities including recreational activities, life skills, vocational training, educational support health and wellness activities. NO personal care is permitted. Pre-requisite: 18 yrs, Orientation and training requirement would depend on level of involvement.
