Dr. Williams has a special interest and expertise in the areas of autism, developmental language disorders, and augmentative communication. She is associated with the Autism Research Program at the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University where she conducts functional magnetic resonance imaging and behavioral studies of cognitive and linguistic processing in autism.
She has extensive clinical experience with children and adults with autism and other developmental disorders with a wide range of language abilities. As Program Director of the Child Language Clinic at Duquesne, Dr. Williams coordinates clinical services or children with a variety of language problems and teaches the language disorders coursework in the Department.
