Community and Philanthropic Organizations serve the campus and local communities while developing the leadership skills of each member of the organization. Service organizations sponsor a wide variety of professional, charitable, educational, and social programs.

Service Organization - Developmental Disabilities

Best Buddies International is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with developmental disabilities, by providing opportunities for mutually enriching one-to-one friendships and integrated employment. 


Circle K
Service Organization

Circle K International is a service organization with a worldwide membership that promotes service, leadership and fellowship. The mission of Circle K is to develop students into responsible citizens and leaders with a lifelong commitment to serving the children of the world. Circle K is part of the Kiwanis family, with approx. 13,000 members internationally. 


Colleges Against Cancer

Colleges Against Cancer is the student affiliate of the American Cancer Society. Throughout the year, members work on a variety of projects, including; volunteering at Children's Hospital, cancer awareness events and Relay for Life in April.

DUV Council is the student arm of the Duquesne University Volunteers. The organization meets throughout each month to plan upcoming service projects and discuss issues affecting the Pittsburgh area.

Evergreen views protecting and improving the environment as essential to creating a more just world and hosts a variety of clean-ups, educational and social events each semester.

Service Organization

The Knights of Columbus is a lay Catholic fraternal service organization. Membership in the organization is open to all practical Catholic men in communion with the Holy See, age eighteen and above.

Service Organization

Performance Notes Ensemble is an organization dedicated to the spirit of service through music. As a service organization, PNE performs at local nursing and care homes each academic year and spreads cheer to the residents. St. Vincent DePaul Society

The Duquesne chapter of the St. Vincent de Paul Society is part of an organization that spans across the world to bring hope and compassion to those with all types of need. The Society continues to fulfill the same goal of its founding members: to demonstrate the Christian way of life through acts of love and service. Our chapter's main ministry is working with the homeless of downtown Pittsburgh.

Up 'Till Dawn

A student led, student-run philanthropic program, college students involved with Up 'Till Dawn raise funds and awareness for the St. Jude's Research hospital.  The program engages participants in fund-raising and awareness activities that challenge students and also honor the patients and families of St. Jude's.
