RESEARCH, PUBLICATIONS AND SERVICE
Dr. Hanigan's research interests in Moral Theology centers around two main areas: Christian responsibility in regard to the political and economic orders and Christian responsibility in regard to human sexuality.
His publications include more than two dozen scholarly articles and four books. Dr. Hanigan has lectured widely, including an invited presentation in Moscow for the Soviet Academy of Sciences on the Ethics of Nonviolence. He is the 1988 recipient of Duquesne University's "Presidential Award for Excellence in Scholarship" and, presently, a member of the Bishop of Pittsburgh's Theological Commission.
Dr. James Hanigan retired from the Department of Theology in 2007.
