WORLD ISSUES FORUM IN THEOLOGY

Catholicism (and Christianity) today is facing increasing questions about its self-understandings and identities as a result of a world increasingly characterized by global flows. These flows are demographic, cultural, intellectual and religious (among others) in nature. They raise questions that have forced theological reflection to take more seriously the issues that surface by faith’s encounter with other faiths, with diverse cultures, with varying philosophies and with multiple structures of power.

To all this, theological responses have varied in scope, method and content. However, one thing remains constant: theology done in any part of the world cannot ignore the issues generated and discussed in other parts of the world nor the issues that impact our world as a whole as well as the way in which they affect how we live in the world.

The World Issues Forum in Theology will address the concerns that arise in our world in terms of their impact on and creation of theologies. The primary goal of the Forum is to privilege texts/ events/ situations that enhance our understanding of the world together with philosophical/ religious/ theological reflections that might help to guide and expand our own reflections.
