    Vice President of Management and Business

    Duquesne University invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice President for Management and Business. 

    Founded in 1878 by the Holy Spirit Fathers, Duquesne is a Catholic university in its tradition and mission and ecumenical in its faculty, staff, and student population. Duquesne is well known for its values orientation and its commitment to teaching and research at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Duquesne's 50 acre modern and attractive campus is located on a bluff atop the vibrant City of Pittsburgh. It is one of the safest urban campuses in America while offering all of the amenities and opportunities of a modern city within walking distance. With an enrollment over 10,000 students distributed through ten schools, the University offers more than 100 undergraduate, 35 masters and 15 doctoral level programs. Students come from all states and more than 40 nations.

    The University is fully accredited by the Middle States Association. All of its professional schools are accredited by their respective professional associations. Duquesne is ranked among the leading Catholic universities in America and is a Carnegie High Research university. The University itself is increasing in its quality and national recognitions. The annual budget is currently $270 million with an endowment in excess of $210 million.

    The areas overseen by this Vice President are in very good order with strong leadership in each. Offices within the Vice President's oversight include Auxiliary Services, Computing and Technology Services, Facilities Management, Financial Affairs, Environmental Health and Safety, Human Resources, Internal Audit, Institutional Research, Planning and Budget, and Public Safety.

    The successful candidate for the position of Vice President for Management and Business will be the chief financial officer of the University and will:

    • be compatible with and able to advance the mission and values of the University in the Catholic and Spiritan tradition
    • provide evidence of competency in successful business and financial administration and experience of successful administration in a higher education context
    • demonstrate an ability to provide leadership and vision in a dynamic and progressive values-oriented institution
    • represent the University effectively to a variety of external constituencies
