Voicemail Setup

The first time you access your voicemail, you will be asked to record a personal greeting and change your security code.

Step 1: Access Your New Mailbox

You will log in to your new voicemail using a temporary security code. Contact the CTS Help Desk at 412.396.4357 or help@duq.edu if you do not have a code.

  1. Call the voicemail system at x4740 (or 412-396-4740 from a cell phone).
  2. After the voice prompt, press *(star key) and enter your 4-digit phone extension.
  3. Enter the temporary security code.

Note: If you hear "invalid entry" after entering your phone extension, your voicemail does not exist. Contact the CTS Help Desk to have a voicemail created.

Step 2: Change Your Security Code

You will be prompted to enter a new 4-digit security code for your mailbox.

  1. Enter a new security code. This code cannot match your current extension number.
  2. Press the # (pound key) when completed.
  3. Re-enter your security code and press # to confirm it.

Step 3: Record Your Name

You will be prompted to record your first and last name.

  1. Press 2 to begin recording.
  2. State your first and last name only. Do not record your greeting at this time.
  3. Press 2 to end recording.
  4. Press 6 to review your recording.
  5. If you are satisfied with your recording, press 5 to save it. If you would like to re-record your name, press 4.

Step 4: Record a Personal Greeting

You will be prompted to create a personal greeting.

Example: "Hi, this is John Doe. I am away from my desk or on another line. Please leave a message and I will return your call. Thank you."

  1. Press 2 to begin recording.
  2. Record your personal greeting. Once finished, press 2 to end recording.
  3. Press 6 to review your recording.
  4. If you are satisfied with your recording, press 5 to save it. If you would like to re-record your greeting, press 4.
