Ethics & Stakeholder Management
Prepares you to recognize and solve multi-disciplinary ethical dilemmas in business. You will identify appropriate ethical frameworks for addressing real-world business issues and facilitating responsible decision-making.
The Legal Environment
Provides you with a broad view of the ever-changing legal environment of business from a management perspective. You will examine common legal and regulatory issues facing managers (e.g., related to personnel, contracts, technology, the environment). Strategies for managing these issues are addressed.
The Executive Environment
An exciting overview of contemporary thinking about executive leadership, including how to develop and execute a vision for the future. Features accomplished senior executives who share their insights and experiences with you about the leadership challenges they have faced.
Enterprise Risk Management
Uncertainty, unpredictability, and risk are pervasive in the business decisions and present challenges for the manager and executive. However, risk is an opportunity for competitive advantage, if managed successfully. In this course, you will explore and gain an understanding of the various domains of uncertainty, predictability and appropriate risk management strategies. These include real option, portfolio theory, and conventional strategies such as insurance, spreading, sharing, and hedging. You will also learn about contemporary strategies grounded in research regarding how entrepreneurs think and act with respect to unknown domains.
Effective selling and sales management are integral to an organization's success. Sales professionals solve problems and satisfy needs, generating revenue for organizations and building relationships with clients. This course examines key elements of effectively managing a sales force, acknowledging the impact of sales in achieving organizational goals. Emphasis is placed on designing, organizing, developing, and directing a sales force, with a focus on social responsibility and critical thinking, recognizing that the skills necessary for successful selling, including communication, influence, needs identification, and problem-solving, are valuable in any profession.
You will learn about the process of investigating, selecting and implementing various business-level strategies. This course challenges you to apply material from earlier core courses to develop a holistic business strategy for an organization.
The Entrepreneurial Manager
You will learn how to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and apply entrepreneurship principles in both existing organizations and new ventures. The focus will be on enhancing your skills with respect to identifying and screening new venture opportunities, business planning, acquiring the resources needed to execute your plan and exit strategies.
Behavior in Organizations
You will gain a deep understanding of human behavior in organizations and how to maximize organizational and unit performance by effective management of human capital. Examples of topics covered include perception, attitudes, power, influence, motivation, group dynamics, managing teams, diversity, managing conflict, negotiation and culture.
Human Resources Management
You will explore the strategic role and technical services provided by the human resource function in contemporary organizations. Examples of topics covered are human resource planning, recruiting, selection, performance appraisal, training, compensation, occupational health and safety, employee rights, labor unions, and equal employment opportunity issues.
Projects have a specific purpose plus a defined beginning and end. You will learn how to develop project objectives, build your team, prioritize, operate effectively within time and resource constraints and deliver on goals. Successful project management requires excellent influence and technical skills.
