Curriculum and Requirements
Requirements for the World Literature Minor
- 15 credit hours
- ENGL 322 "Global Literature Survey" (3 credits) is the only common requirement for minor.
- 6 of the 12 remaining credits must be taken outside of the English department. At least 3 credits must be taken in either Classics or Modern Languages.
*Students are also encouraged to take courses in the ancient, medieval, and early modern periods.
*Semester-long study abroad, Spring Break Away courses, and summer study abroad courses offered in the College of Liberal Arts all count as 3 credits toward the minor provided that they have literary content.
*Students can petition to have HONR (Honors) course count toward the minor, provided they have literary content.
*Although the World Literature program does not require courses in a foreign language, students with the requisite language skills are encouraged to enhance their study by electing at least one course in which literature is studied in the language in which it was originally written.
