Financial Aid

Several forms of financial assistance are available.

Assistantships

Outstanding applicants may qualify for a limited number of graduate assistantships.

  • Graduate assistantships provide full or partial tuition remission and a stipend.
  • Teaching assistants primarily tutor undergraduate students.
  • Research assistantships may be available subject to grant funding.

Applications will be considered until June 1st of the admission year for the Fall term and until November 1st of the preceding year for the Spring term. For full consideration of your application, please submit all the required materials by February 1st of the admission year for the Fall term and by July 1st of the preceding year for the Spring term. After those deadlines, admissions are done on a rolling basis given space restrictions. Applications that include an assistantship request will be considered for the Fall term only, and must be submitted by February 1st.

A 25% tuition award is automatically available to all full-time students (6 credits or more) entering the MSCS program in the Fall 2019 or Spring 2020 semesters.

Internships

All students are required to have either relevant job experience or an internship before completing their degrees. Duquesne's location in the heart of Pittsburgh, the demand for students with the skill sets we teach, and our relationships with local employers greatly facilitate placements.  All Duquesne students are able to use Handshake through the Center for Career Services to assist in finding internships.

Financing

See the University's page on graduate education financing for information about applying for external grants, loans, and other ideas for financing your graduate education.
