Media Department Scholarships
Application deadline is MONDAY, OCT. 1, 2018. (Applications are also available in the Media office, 544 College Hall.)
REVEREND JOSEPH A. LAURITIS SCHOLARSHIP
The $500-$1,000 scholarships are for freshmen who are planning to pursue a career in multiplatform journalism, advertising, public relations, broadcast news and/or print news. The recipients will be selected by the Media department's scholarship committee with the help of the university's financial aid office. Selection will be made on the basis of high academic achievement and previous high school activities, especially those that demonstrate an interest in journalism, along with demonstrated financial need. The scholarships will be awarded for the spring 2019 semester, and the scholarships are non-renewable. If you would like to apply for a Lauritis Scholarship, please complete an application and mail or hand-deliver it to the Media office by Monday, Oct. 1, 2018.
C.S. MCCARTHY SCHOLARSHIP
To be considered for the C.S. McCarthy Scholarship, you must be a Multiplatform Journalism or Strategic Public Relations and Advertising major. Attach a letter and resume with proof of your GPA. This scholarship is based on financial need, and students must be juniors or seniors with at least a 3.0 GPA. Please return your materials, including a completed application, to the Media office by Monday, Oct. 1, 2018.
WILLIAM T. RUSH SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is open to Multiplatform Journalism or Strategic Public Relations and Advertising majors with 60-plus credits at the end of the spring 2018 semester and a minimum 3.25 GPA. The applicant's citizenship, service and leadership will also receive attention. Financial need is not a consideration. The Media department's scholarship committee wants to make sure it knows all it needs to know about students' extracurricular achievements when it makes its choices. Please write a letter outlining your qualifications and mail or hand-deliver that as well as your application to the Media office by Monday, Oct. 1, 2018.
PROFESSOR EMERITUS PAUL KRAKOWSKI SCHOLARSHIP
To be considered for the Professor Emeritus Paul Krakowski Scholarship, you must be a Multiplatform Journalism major, and you must be a minority student. This scholarship is based on financial need. Please attach a letter to your application as well as a resume that lists your GPA and return those materials to the Media office by Monday, Oct. 1, 2018.
SUSAN M. REGAN ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
To be given consideration for the Susan M. Regan Endowed Scholarship, you must be majoring in one of the four Media department majors. Please attach a letter stating how you have demonstrated a commitment to promote and will continue to promote the use of lumber and/or other green/sustainable products. Financial need is not a factor. Return your letter and completed application to the Media office by Monday, Oct. 1, 2018.
