How to Apply

Prospective students interested in the Media Arts and Technology M.F.A. program should complete their applications and submit all required documents by the specified deadlines. Only completed application files will be considered for review by the graduate committee.

Students for the Media Arts and Technology M.S. program are NO LONGER BEING ACCEPTED.

Complete Application File Deadlines:

Fall StartSpring or Summer Start
Early Application Deadline*: Jan. 30 TBD
Final Application Deadline: July 1 TBD

*Early application is encouraged, especially for those applying for a graduate assistantship. Completed applications are reviewed by the graduate committee upon receipt.

Application Materials:

Master of Fine Arts in Media Arts and Technology requires the following from all applicants:

  • Your online application to the Media M.F.A. program
  • Official application transcripts 
  • Three letters of reference
  • Self-nomination letter
    • In your self-nomination letter, please indicate the concentration (Digital Media, Media Management, or Web Design and Development) in which you would like to study and which semester (fall, spring, summer) you intend to start the program. 
    • Your letter should address your reasons for pursuing a graduate degree in Media Arts and Technology; how you would contribute to the program; and a description of how your interests, activities and work relate to the program.
  • One or more of the following:
    • Website address
    • Portfolio
    • Writing sample
  • International applicants must also submit their official TOEFL or IELTS test scores.

Certificate in Media Arts and Technology requires the following:

  • Official application transcripts
  • Self-nomination letter
  • Electronic portfolios (URL or CD)
  • International applicants must also submit their official TOEFL or IELTS test scores.

Application Process:

All applications to graduate programs within the McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts follow the same online application process. Applicants would first fill out an online application for graduate programs and then submit their supporting documents. Please read about this process carefully and begin your application on the McAnulty College 'How Do I Apply?' page.
