Undergraduate Research Program

The Undergraduate Research Program (URP) is a paid summer experience that provides students with essential research experiences for careers in STEM-based fields. The National Science Foundation states that students who participate in undergraduate research have a greater appreciation for the sciences and will complete their degree in their program of study. Duquesne University has a great reputation for providing such research opportunities to undergraduate students, and students are highly encouraged to conduct research as early as their freshman year. Positions are available in biochemistry, biology, chemistry, environmental science, health science, forensic science and law, pharmacy or physics. The faculty are committed to experiential education for their undergraduate students and seek junior colleagues to become members of their research teams. Students in the summer program participate in:
