ESL / TESOL

The Masters of Science in ESL is home to the ESL Specialist Certificate, TESOL Certificate, and ESL MSEd programs. With this degree, candidates will be qualified to teach in adult settings in the U.S. and/or adult and K-12 settings abroad. The curriculum focuses on theory, research, and practice around the five domains of language and linguistics, culture, instructional design and delivery, language assessment, and pedagogical and professional responsibilities. Courses include ‘Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Learners', ‘Theories and Practice of Second Language Learning', ‘ESL Curriculum and Assessment', ‘TESOL Methods', and more. Depending on individual plans of study, these degrees can be completed in 3-6 semesters. Students enrolled in the ESL MSEd program will also obtain their ESL Specialist Certificate (16 credits) and/or TESOL Certificate (18 credits) concurrently.
